Hell,

In postgresql ODBC when a user type in a password is it sent over the
network in its original text format or does it get encrypted and then sent?

Not if you use 'crypt' in pg_hba.conf.

What odbc driver supports crypt?  Even if you do have crypt, what about
all the information after that gets sent unencrypted?  (this has been
discussed before..)
