Hello, IMHO, it would be useful if Connection.close() was called from Connection.finalize(), if the connection is still open. Thus the connection would always be closed properly. The mysql JDBC driver, for instance, does this. Or is this already implemented in the current development codebase? I downloaded the development version today and got a compilation error
about "${minor}" not found. What's this?

Do a make clean, and then do a make, and it will go away

It would be nice if you (or someone else) tried to reproduce it with the stable driver, so that I know for sure whether it is really a bug. That is the behavior I would expect. If you don't close the connection
you will see this. The reason here is the JVM doesn't run finalization
when it is exiting. So you didn't close the connection and the finalize
method is never called because you are just exiting before garbage
collection runs.

After executing "con=null;System.gc();" the database connection is closed properly. Dumb I was thinking of the finalize method as a C++-like destructor which must always be called.
