Обсуждение: [Fwd: [LIH]OpenOffice.org 1.1 <-> PostgreSQL connectivity]
Hi all, I hope this is useful for people using open office regularly. Can we get this posted on techdocs? Regards Shridhar -------- Original Message -------- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Was fooling around a bit and managed to get OpenOffice.org 1.1 and PostgreSQL to talk to each other. Have documented my experiences in a small HOWTO kind of document. If you're interested in reading it the Linuxdoc SGML source is available at: http://kandalaya.org/download/oo-pgsql.sgml A single-page HTML conversion is also available at the same place for online reading: http://kandalaya.org/download/oo-pgsql.html Feedback welcome. [snip] There's also an OpenOffice driver for PG (http://dba.openoffice.org/drivers/postgresql/index.html). Its still alpha quality but it works quite well. Hopefully, enough people will try it and give feedback to enable it become part of the next OO release. -- Paul Thomas +------------------------------+---------------------------------------------+ | Thomas Micro Systems Limited | Software Solutions for the Smaller Business | | Computer Consultants | http://www.thomas-micro-systems-ltd.co.uk | +------------------------------+---------------------------------------------+

What I liked most with OOo is the ability to quiqly dessign Forms to enter Data. Take a look at AutoPilot->Forms. You can even design embeded forms ( Forms which disply Data from different tables). There are some usfull articles abaut that on the OOo-db project site. There's also an (experimental) direct access driver available from the URL below. Saves all the messing with ODBC http://dba.openoffice.org/drivers/postgresql/ Seems to work OK for the few small cases I've used it. -- Richard Huxton Archonet Ltd
