Обсуждение: Postgres/PostgreSQL as a trademark?
Trivial question; Could anybody let me know if Postgres and/or PostgreSQL is a trademark or a registered trademark? If it is registered, who has the ownership? Thanks a lot in advance; -- ------ Koichi Suzuki

There's a searchable database at the US Patent and Trademark Office. The only active trademarks it shows with either Postgres or PostgreSQL are variations of "Postgres Plus" held by EnterpriseDB. There's a dead patent on Mammouth that references PostgreSQL that was held by Command Prompt, Inc. Try this form to search for yourself: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=searchstr&state=l1i5ve.1.1 Seth On Thu, 26 Jun 2008, Koichi Suzuki wrote: > Trivial question; > > Could anybody let me know if Postgres and/or PostgreSQL is a trademark > or a registered trademark? Yes, I saw this company's link from .org's page before. I also found that this company looks not active any longer. The last press in their page was five years ago. 2008/6/26 Dave Page <dpage@pgadmin.org>: > On Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 10:08 AM, Koichi Suzuki <koichi.szk@gmail.com> wrote: >> Trivial question; >> >> Could anybody let me know if Postgres and/or PostgreSQL is a trademark >> or a registered trademark? The company is not active, no, but Marc will have retained the trademark even if he's now closed the company officially. -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com

Ignore the press section, that site needs a complete overhaul ... but, it is still an active business working with several clients ... - -- Marc G. Fournier Hub.Org Hosting Solutions S.A. Mind you, it would be a good idea for JPUG to register it. BTW, great going on the synchronous standby code! -- --Josh Josh Berkus PostgreSQL @ Sun San Francisco
