Summary of German IT media reporting about 7.4 release after the first
24 hours:
Heise Newsticker:
PostgreSQL in Version 7.4 veröffentlicht
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/hos-17.11.03-000/
The agile (and tending pro PostgreSQL) discussion related to this
article seems to show a change of awareness - compared to the rare
former discussions there. Some of the people didn't know PostgreSQL
until now, and want to check it out. In many postings PostgreSQL has
been compared with MySQL, as well as MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, and Borland's
Firebird. Beyond the flamewar it came clear, that MySQL is fine for
simple, read-only database, while PostgreSQL is favorable at higher
requirements, and (less or more) competible to commercial high-end
databases, especially MS SQL. Missing Windows Port has been claimed.
