Обсуждение: About PostgreSQL Weekly News
Hi all, As we know, every week, Robert posts a weekly report on PostgreSQL. What I will offer is to put them under advocacy site.(advocacy.PostgreSQL.org/weekly ,or else) Also, the translators (including me) will translate them into our languages. Then, we may post that announcement to local user group mailing lists. What do you think? :) Best regards, -- Devrim GUNDUZ www.gunduz.org
I really appreciate Robert's posts, especially the part about General Bits :-) And I think it is a great idea to archive them under advocacy or techdocs. However, most people in various user groups already read announce. Reposting the english version would duplicate mail we already read. Perhaps each local user group or individual could "subscribe" to the translated or english versions. elein@varlena.com On Wednesday 22 January 2003 12:20, Devrim GUNDUZ wrote: > Hi all, > > As we know, every week, Robert posts a weekly report on PostgreSQL. > > What I will offer is to put them under advocacy > site.(advocacy.PostgreSQL.org/weekly ,or else) Also, the translators > (including me) will translate them into our languages. > > Then, we may post that announcement to local user group mailing lists. > > What do you think? :) > > Best regards, -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- elein@varlena.com Database Consulting www.varlena.com I have always depended on the [QA] of strangers.

I was thinking it might be more appropriate to add them to the main postgresql site under the users lounge someplace. (course I've been having a big enough headache trying to update the news code that I haven't bothered with this yet...) Yep, at present the Advocacy site is focused on presenting to CIOs, CTO's, CEOs, etc. Until we have fleshed out a really good strategy for targetting the different needs of different groups, lets keep the Advocacy site targetted well for it's present audience. > I was thinking it might be more appropriate to add > them to the main postgresql site under the users lounge someplace. We're looking to phase out the Users Lounge and move its pieces to the other subsites... part of an ongoing website rationalisation plan. > (course I've been having a big enough headache trying to update the news > code that I haven't bothered with this yet...) Yep. We really need to make each page be 1 field in the database, instead of multiple confusing fields that lead to the present difficulties. > Also, the translators > >>(including me) will translate them into our languages. >>Then, we may post that announcement to local user group mailing lists. >> > I think that would be very cool. Yep, having a centralised place for the proper co-ordination of this would be cool, and then other mailing lists (not the main PostgreSQL ones) would be able to spread the info as desired. :-) Regards and best wishes, Justin Clift > Robert Treat > > > > > ---------------------------(end of broadcast)--------------------------- > TIP 6: Have you searched our list archives? > > http://archives.postgresql.org -- "My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. Ok, no problem. I believe that those mails are really important, and must be read by lots of people; even by the ones that are not subscribed to -announce list. > Also, the translators > > (including me) will translate them into our languages. > > Then, we may post that announcement to local user group mailing lists. > > > > I think that would be very cool. So, what will be the process? If you mail me the text one day before the announcement; I'll post the Turkish version to linux community lists in Turkey. Ok?
