There are a couple of levels of captcha you can setup. For example, one wiki I work on a regularly allows edits by any account as soon as it's created. But if you add a reference to a URL that's outside of the Wiki itself, committing that edit requires completing a captcha (where the data you type is a combination of two common words appearing in the wiki).
