Hi Thiemo- Do you either have the tcpip_socket flag set in postgresql.conf or a -i flag on the command line for the server? If not, take a look here for instructions: http://www.fankhausers.com/postgresql/jdbc/#tcpip. You may also want to read down further in the same document for info on connection authorization if you haven't already set that up.
