in postgresql.conf, find the entry: #tcpip_socket = false and modify it to tcpip_socket = true (i.e., comment and change to true to enable distributed postgres capabilities) this is the equivalent of the cmdline "-i" option good luck! -----Original Message----- From: pgsql-general-owner@postgresql.org [mailto:pgsql-general-owner@postgresql.org]On Behalf Of Andrew Gould Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2001 6:21 PM To: Postgres Mailing List Subject: [GENERAL] editing postgresql.conf for network access I have PostgreSQL 7.1.1 running on FreeBSD 4.3. The startup script uses pg_ctl; and instructs users to edit /usr/local/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf to change startup options. I've looked at the file; and am not sure how to change the connection parameters. (I'm assuming that I can't just type '-i' and expect it to work.) I've already edited the host access configuration file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andrew __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
