I think the name "preferred" implies that it will be ignored if it's not found or something like that, but I don't think that's what you are implementing.
ok if it will be used only for verbose describe commands , then the name EXTENDED_DESCRIBE_SORT_COLUMNS, and EXTENDED_DESCRIBE_SORT_DIRECTION.
