The Interfaces list is the place to talk about it, and I'm the person you should be talking to (rather my home email address: peter@retep.org.uk) Don't work on the 6.4.2 source though, as the code has changed alot in 6.5 to allow the driver to compile under the Java2 platform. I'm open to any help I can get, as my time has become limited over the last few months, and the next 2-3 weeks are going to be even busier :-( Peter -- Peter T Mount, IT Section petermount@it.maidstone.gov.uk Anything I write here are my own views, and cannot be taken as the official words of Maidstone Borough Council -----Original Message----- From: David Lay [mailto:dave@netc.net.au] Sent: Friday, March 19, 1999 3:19 AM To: pgsql-interfaces@postgreSQL.org Subject: [INTERFACES] [JDBC] Serialization I've been experimenting with the object serialization features of the JDBC driver recently and I've noticed the implementation (as of PostgreSQL 6.4.2) is not yet complete. I've been giving this some attention in my Copious Free Time but things are starting to get serious since I'm feeling tempted to tweak things like the postgresql.Connection class. I'd like to see the serialization functionality mature since I'm interested in using it in some upcoming projects, but I'd prefer to move in the same direction as the production JDBC driver code that will appear in subsequent PostgreSQL releases. So, I'd like to throw my hat into the ring. Is anybody else interested in pursuing this? Is this the right place to discuss it? Is there somebody in particular I should talk to? Which way to the ring? :) -- David Lay \\\ North East Telecentre Systems Administrator -NETC- http://www.netc.net.au/ dave@netc.net.au /// +61 3 5722 2563
