I doubt that O'Reilly really needs those submitted. Has anyone confirmed the talk itself with O'Reilly yet? As far as content, this is a 30-minute talk, if I recall correctly, and the main focus should be on "selling" PostgreSQL to the developers there, with a few things thrown in for the other non-tecnical types there (press, managers, non-DB people, etc.) Certainly new features should be a part of it, but given our low profile, I think a little bit of exapanding on our current strengths would be good too. It also should be lively, funny, and interesting. A good example of this is the Perl speech, which is always entertaining, no matter if you use perl or not. Maybe not *quote* as many jokes as Larry Wall, but certainly a few along with some entertaining slides. Placement is also important. I will assume that every group that spoke last year will speak at this one, but ideally we won't get thrown on the end of the night. The best would be to follow Perl's address, of course. It would be a tough act to follow, but everyone will still be awake. :) I have no idea how they determine these things, but my vote is for "as early as possible" in the night. - -- Greg Sabino Mullane greg@turnstep.com PGP Key: 0x14964AC8 200401251522 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iD8DBQFAFCapvJuQZxSWSsgRAulbAKCzy7Jn79xThn7DIFrzfnCakKNlAQCgzUlv qTt7TNyyO54Akj92BZ8jOwY= =N2ZQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
