More detailed query plans are attached. PostgreSQL 9.6.6 on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, compiled by gcc (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.4) 5.4.0 20160609, 64-bit The results look really confusing to me in two ways. The first one is that I've seen recommendations to set effective_io_concurrency=256 (or more) on EBS. The other one is that effective_io_concurrency=1 (the worst case) is actually the default for PostgreSQL on Linux. Thoughts? Regards, Vitaliy
