Optimization Advice

<p><font size="2">I am currently setting up two pcs to run with apache, php, and postgres.  I am looking over the
Optimizationthat I can do with postgres and would like some sound advice.  I also have some questions concerning
optimization</font><p><fontsize="2">Systems:</font><br /><font size="2">Redhat linux 7.2 with new kernel
additions</font><br/><font size="2">1.5 gig cpu</font><br /><font size="2">1 gig memory</font><br /><font size="2">80
gighd</font><br /><p><font size="2">I was thinking of specifying about 512 for the kernel shmmax and shmall.  Is this a
goodidea?  What are some optimizations that you would suggest.</font><br /><br /><p><font size="2">Thank
