If you generate valid SQL then PostgreSQL can certainly process the queries. As to whether tuning will help, nobody can say because you haven't supplied details of: 1. Hardware 2. Operating System 3. Queries giving problems 4. Concurrency details 5. Current configuration settings 6. System activity (is CPU/RAM/IO maxed?)
