postgres 7.1.3 wth perl 5.8.0

Hi,
i was trying to install postgres 7.1.3 on Redhat 9, using perl 5.8.0-88.3,

./configure --enable-multibyte --enable-odbc --with-perl --with-java
--with-tcl

but make fails on plperl:
