This may or may not help - You can have a look at what oracles say about DB2 and SQL Server http://www.oracle.com/ip/deploy/database/oracle9i/ 1. Postgres has features like Store procedures and triggers that are in Oracle and not in MySql. 2. The Postgresql licensing model (free, with comercial support available) is easy to understand compared to Oracle. It really depends on what you are doing with your application. If performance is a problem in a particalure area, you might be better spending the money for the cost of oracle on new hardware. E.G. Solid state Hard Drive would improve things.
