Tom, 1.On the surface the work Jim has done seem to me to be a great start. Could this be included in a future release? 2.I know that oracle has control files that have all the tablespace to datafiles and log files info in it. Putting the WAL on it own or a quiet disk must be a good thing. So may be a config file that could override the default location for system/pg_catalog stuff and WAL. Thanks.
