Thanks for your quick answers. The extra space is indeed a copy-and-paste issue. Here it is the select that you
suggested:

postgres=# select '"' || datname || '"' from pg_database;
  ?column?
-------------
 "template1"
 "template0"
 "t1"
 "skynet"
