Um, I don't understand what you are saying.  I downloaded this mbox:

If I understand what you are saying above, the file on your local mbox
has the complete line you show above.  In that case I think I've proved
that the subject is being truncated _after_ leaving your MUA.

It could be the MTA software, but I doubt it.  The theory I have is that
it is Majordomo.
