Initial Comment:
I'm trying to build psqlodbc-08.01.0108 for gentoo linux.

In docs/unix-compilation.html, it suggests to try the usual ./configure && make && make install.  First problem,
there'sno configure script.  I noticed that there _is_ a configure.ac and the top of that file says to run autoconf on
it. Ok, so here's my try: 

$ autoconf configure.ac 2> autconf_err.log > configure
$ chmod +x configure
$ ./configure 2> config_err.log

and generated the four files I'm attaching.

I see these steps for bootstrap in unix-compilation.html:

- First, copy libtool.m4 into source directory. Be sure to pick the one from the right Libtool version. Then run:
- aclocal -I . -I $PGSRC/config
- libtoolize --force --copy
- autoconf
- autoheader
- automake --add-missing --copy
