Re: initdb fails on ultra2. followup

On a Sun ultra2 sparc64 with 200mhz cpu initdb hangs.

$ initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data
The files belonging to this database system will be owned by user "pgsql".
This user must also own the server process.

The database cluster will be initialized with locale C.

creating directory /usr/local/pgsql/data ... ok
creating directory /usr/local/pgsql/data/global ... ok
...
selecting default max_connections ... 100
selecting default shared_buffers ... 1000
creating configuration files ... ok
creating template1 database in /usr/local/pgsql/data/base/1 ...
** initdb hangs here

I have heard ultra sparc 200mhz cpus have a bug that can cause processes to
hang. I have run postgresql 8.0.n on a similar machine with 250mhz cpus. I
suspect this is the problem here. Anyone have experience with this?


After killing initdb with ^C postgres is still running
