database recovery problem

hello sir,
i had installed linux 7.1 with postgres 7.2 on the
machine but oh... get crashed.
i tried so many think to recover the file system but
nothing happened.
so i installed the linux7.1 with postgres 7.2 on
another machine and copied the data from crashed
machine to new machine.
but i have problem in postgres database.i had copied
the base directory to new machine in data directory
but i could get database so plz tell me how to recover
the database from the crashed machine so i can run
that database on new machine because i have an
important data in old machine so plz tell me how to
copy that database to new machine.
so i did not have backup script which is made using
pgdump command.i have only data in the folder so let
me know what i should do to recover the database.

i want help specially from bruce sir,don of postgres.
