   There is pod2docbook on CPAN, have you looked into using that? Could   probably use that and a small perl script to
putin the proper chapter   ids, links to DBI/DBD on CPAN, and a small blurb into the   pod2docbook output. 
 
   Is this along the lines of what you're after?
