The prompt indicates whether you have administrator privileges in
PostgreSQL.  Here's an illustration:

bray=# select usename, usesuper from pg_user;
 usename  | usesuper
----------+----------
 postgres | t
 dan      | f
 ruth     | f
 olly     | t
 hoho     | f
(6 rows)

bray=# \c - dan
You are now connected as new user dan.
bray=> \c - olly
You are now connected as new user olly.
bray=#
