I'll have to check /. The 60Gb Astronomical DB is probably the TASS project (which I'm associated with), but it's not 60Gb yet (about 18 at the moment), but it's going to grow by about 200Mb a day when it really starts. The best person (who I know is on atleast the interfaces list) is Chris Robertson (I think I have his surname correct), but I only have his email address at home. You may find it on http://www.tass-survey.org Peter -- Peter Mount Enterprise Support Maidstone Borough Council Any views stated are my own, and not those of Maidstone Borough Council. -----Original Message----- From: Peter Eisentraut [mailto:e99re41@Minsk.DoCS.UU.SE] Sent: 12 October 1999 11:39 To: pgsql-hackers@postgresql.org Subject: [HACKERS] It's PR time! ... on Slashdot of all places. Some fellow wants to install a large database on Linux and is considering Oracle vs. PostgreSQL. (Perhaps the poster with the 60GB astronomical db from the other day could come forward?) I know you guys always wanted to be on Slashdot, so here's your chance. Not to start this all over again, but I especially liked this post: "If you are looking for mission critical data, why not give a chance to MySQL?" Take a look. -Peter ************
